Ocean coloring ideas
Ocean pictures look best with a full background. Color the water in two or three blues, lighter near the top and darker toward the sea floor, and the animals will pop. Coral and anemones are a chance to go bold: real reefs are full of pinks, purples, oranges and yellows.
Pair the pages with a quick lesson: which animals are mammals (whale, dolphin, seal, narwhal) and which are fish (clownfish, pufferfish, shark)? Kids can sort the finished pictures into two piles.
A beach-day or summer activity
Print a few ocean pages before a beach trip or a rainy summer day. Finished pictures can be cut out and taped to a blue poster to build an underwater mural, one animal at a time.
