What color were dinosaurs?
Nobody knows for sure. Fossils keep bones, not colors, so scientists only have clues for a few feathered species. That means any color is a good guess: a green stegosaurus with orange plates, a purple triceratops or a striped velociraptor.
A fun trick is to camouflage your dinosaur: color it to match the plants or the ground around it, the way many real animals blend into their habitat.
Dinosaur names to learn
Each page is a different dinosaur, so coloring is a sneaky way to learn the names. Triceratops means three-horned face, stegosaurus means roof lizard (for its plates), and pterodactyls were flying reptiles, not dinosaurs at all. Ask kids to say the name out loud when they finish each picture.
